Daylight savings time.....right.....i think?

What is the deal with this Daylight Savings Time thing. Today we all had to turn our clocks forward and what used to be 5pm is now 6pm....to make up for more daylight....now that to me just feels like i need to work longer so that when i leave work it's still dark like it was in Winter...that sucks!

Maybe i'm a little confused.

Down with Daylight Savings Time!!

then again....i'm so glad i get to spend the next two weeks practically on holiday...this savings thing came at the perfect time.....literally

...time is running out

Just got back to Amsterdam from a week in the Hague of workshops and ending the program. We graduated.....certificates and all....i can't remember what the certificate says though. We were all scheduled to leave this morning but since Walindah and I have extended our tickets to stay two weeks longer.....all we really did was wake up early to see all our new SA friends off for their flight back home and then went straight back to bed and slept for the rest of the morning.

It was a great ending to the program....

Today Walindah and I were on a go-slow....and managed after much feet-dragging difficulty....to the Delft....a stunning little town and a must to visit, something similar yet different to the bigger Holland cities. Loved it. And we primarily made it to the big IKEA store there. wow.....what an experience.....i lurrrvvvveeed the offerings and the concept....but i was a bit uncomfortable with being forced to follow a particular direction.....however i STILL found a million things i would luurrrvvvvvv to buy....we need an IKEA in SA!!

A weekend in snow....abeit melted

This weekend....try as we might...there was just no chance we could get out the house so we spent most of it looking out the window at the falling snowflakes. Easter was snow-covered this year. Unfortunately the snow doesn't lay on the ground long enough for it to accumulate....and all i really wanted to do was make a snowman...hehehehe

However....the weekend wasn't a complete bust, i attended a fabulous bon-voyage party for my new friends Margot and Eric somewhere just outside Amsterdam (I can't remember the name) and I got there with my friend Fieke and co. It was alot of fun...and i landed up actually talking alot of politics...hehehe

Margot and Eric are embarking on a trip around the world...how awesome is that??? I'm soooooo envious.

A sad day....

Yesterday I dreaded the passing of every minute, or every second, of every nano-second. It was my last day at work as an intern, and I wasn't ready to leave. I wanted one more month, one more year, a lifetime if I could. But all too quickly the hours rushed by and the dread built up as I cleared out my computer and started getting ready to leave, with a strange feeling in my tummy that they didn't feel the pain as much as me, it felt like any other day. And then.....out of the blue, at 4:30pm, I see the drinks come out and everyone getting together and they called me over to say goodbye and give me fantastic box of sinful Belgian chocolates as a parting gift. It took all the power in me not to cry. I was so touched. I will miss this place. ALOT. Bedankt to my amazing host company, I had a great time.
Luv, Fehmz

A beautiful city.

There's something about Geneva, it's simply breathtaking. A city that envelopes a part of the pristine blue lake, protected and surrounded by snow-covered mountains. Stunning

A little taste of Home in the Hague

On Monday night we were the lucky guests of the South African Ambassador to Holland at a dinner to welcome the Minister of Transport, Mr. Jeff Radebe on his visit to Holland. They greeted all their guests as we walked into the door. It felt like a good dose of home. It was a great evening filled with many South Africans and a fair sprinkling of Nederlandse people eating, drinking and laughing together. Met quite a few South Africans living in Holland doing some wonderful work, of which special mention should be made of our fortunate meeting with Judge Pillay, our very own South African, appointed as one of the Judges at the International Criminal Court, visit the website at www.icc-cpi.int
